Fall Home Refresh: 5 Simple Steps to Keep Your Home Cozy and Clean

As the leaves begin to change and a crispness fills the air, it’s that time of the year when we transition our homes from the sweltering Texas summer to the cozy embrace of fall.  Many of you will be hosting holiday parties and family gatherings in the next few months, which makes this week the perfect time for a quick refresh! Refreshing and cleaning your home ensures it stays in top shape. So, here are five simple steps to help you achieve just that:

1. Declutter Like a Pro: Fall cleaning starts with decluttering. Take a look around your home and identify items you no longer need. Whether it’s clothing, decor, or unused kitchen gadgets, consider donating, selling, or recycling them. A clutter-free space not only looks better but also feels more relaxing.

2. Deep Clean and Dust: Dust can accumulate quickly, especially after a dry summer. Grab your trusty cleaning supplies and give your home a good dusting from top to bottom. Pay special attention to ceiling fans, baseboards, and those often-neglected corners. A clean home is a healthy home!

3. HVAC Check-Up: Fall means cooler temperatures, and soon you’ll be relying on your heating system. Schedule an HVAC check-up to ensure it’s in top working condition. A well-maintained system will not only keep you warm but also save you money on energy bills. Consider having your ducts cleaned.  I have a great contact for this and it will make a HUGE difference.

4. Cozy Up Your Space: Fall is all about creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Swap out lightweight summer linens for cozier bedding and throw blankets. Add some fall-themed decor like pumpkins, candles, and warm-toned accents to give your home that autumnal charm.

5. Prepare for Seasonal Maintenance: Don’t forget to think about the upcoming winter months. Check your home’s insulation and seal any gaps or cracks. Clean out your gutters to prevent clogs and trim any overhanging tree branches that could cause damage during storms.

BONUS TIP: Boil these ingredients over your cooktop to add a wonderful fall fresh scent to your home.  After a few hours add the remaining liquid to a spray bottle.

  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 slice of orange
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tbs of vanilla
  • 1 tbs of clove

Remember, these steps are not only about maintaining your home but also about creating a comfortable and inviting space for you and your family to enjoy during the fall season.
